Eligibility Criteria  

Educational Qualification  

Should have a Bachelor degree in Law (LLB) in a well-known Indian university 

Age Limit  

Minimum Age: 21 years (Born After 02 July 1985)
Maximum Age: 40 years (as on July 1, 2025)  
PH Candidates: 55 years (born not earlier than 02 July 1970).
Relaxations are applicable under SC, ST, OBC and other categories of reserved under UPPSC.  

Marital Status:

Male Candidates: Not eligible if they have more than one living wife
Female Candidates: Not eligible if married to a man who already has a wife
Exception: Allowed only if exemption is granted by the Hon'ble Governor

Selection Process and Pattern of Exam.  

The selection will be conducted in four steps:

Prelims Examination (Objective Type)

  Two Papers: 2 hrs 
  1. General Studies - 50 marks  
  2. Law - 100 marks  

Mains Examination (Descriptive Type)

• Paper 1: General Hindi - 100 marks (3 hrs)
• Paper 2: General English - 50 marks (1 hr 30 min)
• Paper 3: General Knowledge - 50 marks (1 hr 30 min)
• Paper 4: Criminal Law & Procedure - 100 marks (3 hrs)
• Paper 5: Shakshya Adhiniyam - 100 marks (3 hrs)

Interview (Carries 50 marks) 

Personality, communication, confidence and legal acumen will be analyzed.  The preliminary steps involve reviewing the applicant's resume and carrying out a preliminary interview to assess their capability to work effectively. The initial procedures include going through the resume of the applicant and conducting a pre-selection interview with the aims of assessing the applicant in terms of their effectiveness in performing a job.
